These are young sierra Leonean boys and girls- actually children of the savage senseless war that almost finished their land- who are now up and determined to ‘’Never say die’ Rather, they say we don’t like to live vultures; we want to forget about the past, we want to put and end to strife; NO MORE WAR , we want peace.’’

So, the talented and inspired youths came together and formed AUCAYD to make people know about the rights of children and help them as they help themselves. It is a non governmental and non profit making organization registered under the Ministry of Youth& Sport Department and ministry social welfare children and gender affair to empower children and youths in Sierra Leone. Positive changes as they make the difference ‘oneness 4 progress’ is an organization that aims to promote youth and children initiatives in various arts. The arts pursued include music, filming, computer skills training, drama, essay writing contests, painting-fine and graphic art, fine textiles production like gara, batique, and wooding production. They see their work as artists comprising many forms of youthful activity- all about creativity and positive way to develop Sierra Leone and beyond.
Artists United 4 Children And youth Development (AUCAYD Sierra Leone) is a group of concerned, conscious and talented youths. Artist is a very vast word in that it involves all forms of art. And the novelty of AUCAYD is its ability and design to use music and other art to inspire and promote other forms of young people’s aspirations. That spells our particular innovative effort in Sierra Leone. Be it in the area of music, filming, drama, essay writing, poems, skills training, information communication technology and all other forms of art.

The project is about, using our talents to effect changes and meaning in the lives of children and youths. The word ‘artist’ spells out creativity or innovation in that our organization as a platform through which young people use their talent in a productive and constructive manner. It cuts across tribes, ethnic groups, gender and disabilities. Where in no matter your background or origin. And if there need for improvement you will be encourage to do so. Thus empowerment is our watch word.
As a young Sierra Leonean artist, I will do my best to show people from all around the world the quality of our culture. As our lyrics are moving, touching and exciting to hear, and attacks not personality but global issues of concern such as Education, Environmental Degradation that causes global warming and ensuring Disasters; HIV/AIDS, Human Rights especially youth empowerment and making poverty history. We as young people must not despair over issues of peace building culture for sustainable development. Also we are determined to celebrate the best of humanity that is respect for life.
Today, music and performing arts is one of the fastest ways of disseminating information to people nationwide and globally and the industry is rapidly growing in Sierra Leone. It contributes significantly to our way of life and it creates jobs for many youths. Our objective includes; the continuous protection, development and enchantment of young Sierra Leonean musicians. AUCAYD aims to protect the highest standard of professionalism and quality with in the industry. And contributed to stopping the war in Sierra Leone and also used positively to encourage clean campaign in our recent elections and we served as artists for sustainable peace

AUCAYD engages youth and children in Sierra Leone in workshops cooperative programmes to improve their skills training, to motivate them, and to mobilise them for positive action that will benefit their welfare in their communities.

As AUCAYD (Artist United 4 Children And Youth Development). Lights on with talents and energy initiating its development and success, it finds it must call for help to strengthen the efforts and the prospect of achieving the goals. AUCAYD needs technical and financial support to carry out projects. In that regard, it is looking for sponsors to aid development of initiatives.

One critical initiative AUCAYD is anxious to establish and see succeed early is a vocational training school for which the personnel are already on stand-by. This school will teach girls gara tie-dying alongside the production of batique and wooden special textiles and, of course, ancillary instructions for young male skills for parallel empowerment. This type of project creates decent income after a short while for young boys and girls. This leads to self-reliance and confidence which should be valuable contributions to youth advancement in Sierra Leone.
